For me, enjoying summer vacations means walking on the beach at sunset, children flooding the pools, the art of doing nothing at all, disconnecting from work responsibilities and enduring thermometers exposed to unbearable temperatures.

Summer is here, long awaited by many as an escape from the daily routine in which it is difficult to reconcile work with other facets of life. But it is a nightmare for others, who live it without being able to disconnect, that is, having a hard time enjoying their holidays. This of course indicates interesting things about the way they manage and understand their work, or about the circumstances in which they have to carry it out.

It is no coincidence that the end of summer brings an increase in the number of divorce proceedings and an increase in the number of people who start therapy. During the summer holidays, families are forced to spend more time together. Accustomed to the routine, living together on vacation can become very difficult . In addition, the aspects that have not been resolved during the rest of the year come to the surface and give rise to conflicts. Frictions and uncomfortable situations arise, causing stress, which adds to the work stress from which we want to rest and prevents us from enjoying these days off.

In this context, it is important not to wait to resolve these problems during these days: the sooner they are resolved, the better, if you want to have a good opportunity to enjoy your vacation.

On the other hand, there are people who do not know how to make the most of these days off and who enter a circle of overwhelm because they do not know what to do with their free time, which makes it difficult to relax and enjoy their vacation.

How to enjoy the holidays (as much as possible)?

1. Avoid planning every minute

Try to get out of your comfort zone . You will see how you will be able to look at things with new perspectives and get away from the usual problems. Sometimes it fails, but sometimes novelty is a good thing to enjoy on vacation .

3. Live in the present

Learn to disconnect from problems and position yourself firmly in the here and now. Adopt an attentive attitude and try to appreciate the present moment . Notice the details and try to connect with yourself to enjoy the holidays.

4. Find time for yourself

It’s important to enjoy the holidays to be with family or friends , but don’t forget that it’s also an opportunity to make plans for yourself and have fun. Find the balance you need to make the most of your break and enjoy your vacation.

5. Disconnect from digital

Sometimes, due to the position we hold in the company or unforeseen circumstances, we are not able to leave the corporate email aside or we continue to work, even a little, during the holidays. We also continue to abuse networks and applications instead of indulging in more analog activities . Try to take a break from the digital to enjoy the holidays, your eyes and brain will thank you .
